Episode 7: Hello My Printy

We talk about our printers new, old, and the changes we want to make to the. We also discuss copyright and recent rumblings dealing with copyright within the 3D printing realm.

You can download or listen to the track on SoundCloud and directly off our main page. You can also find us on iTunes and YouTube!

Links to things we discuss (opens in new window/tab):

NOTE: Acetone has a boiling point of 56-57°C. Please us extreme caution if you decide to heat acetone when making slurry or perform ABS smoothing.

Correction: Chuck Hellebuyck was referred to as Chuck Headly. A thousand apologies to Chuck! We will make sure Andrew is beaten for is insolence. ;)

It's alive!

Just a short update before I start typing up the podcast post: I have been working on trying to get my M3D Micro to behave, and it has been a chore. And when I say behave I do not mean the Austin Power kind of 'Oh Behave', I mean the 'act right or I'm gunna introduce you to my table saw' kind of behave. Joking aside though; after going over everything I could think of I turned to the M3D forums to see if there way anyone who had anymore ideas. I got some good suggestions, but nothing seemed to fix my problems. Fed up I finally shot my contact with M3D a message and had my printer exchanged. A couple days later when I got it plugged in (I had the podcast to edit and my day job was needing me early for the last couple days) and I verified the backlash and bed level I have printed a few models without issues. That makes me happy to see a working printer again.

As we talk about in this weeks episode I do have a new printer on the way though and that is going to be a lot of fun. It is be here tomorrow, and I will post an un-boxing video and even some videos as I build the machine so keep an eye out on our YouTube channel.

A week already...

How time flies. Since last week things have been a bit of a roller coaster. On the printing side of things I had some bed leveling issues with my M3D which I talk about in the new episode and seem to be resolved. It has been exciting hearing peoples reactions to our first episode and I have even had some people already asking how the new episode has gone since we just wrapped recording. Since I am in the middle of editing it; I guess they will just have to wait and see. ;) No spoilers. With any luck I will be able to get editing done and the audio uploaded by Wednesday. We were able to record more than just an intro this week so we are going to hit that one hour mark that we talked about in the first episode! I am excited as this one is going to be full of 3D printing goodness. Stay tuned to find out more.
