Episode 33: Printer Load Letter

Did you hear there? It's the sound of awesome. New intro and outro music thanks to Victor Berggren from Sweden! We go over figuring out and understand the tolerances and capabilities of your printer, what happened to Joe’s PC, turning your Andriod phone into a 3d scanner, how blind parents are seeing the unborn children, where Image Comics is moving and more.

Rollin' like a freight train

Since my motherboard died, I have been forced to use my work laptop to do most of my work. It has also been necessary to borrow my wife’s computer to try and get access to my hard drive. Thankfully both of our computers were identical, so booting from my hard drive on her computer will not result in driver / chipset issues. I feel like I am closer, but it takes a while. While I have been out of the PC repair game for some time, thankfully the concepts remain the same. Heck even the utilities are mostly the same, only updated to adapt to the new technologies. My biggest challenge was deciding if I wanted an LGA 1511 or LGA 2011 CPU. The LGA 2011 won out. So, here on Monday I should be ordering my new hardware (motherboard, RAM, CPU and CPU cooler, power supply, and SSD) from Amazon, and I should have them by Wednesday if all goes as planned. I have been getting the rest of the rebuild prepped in the meantime. I have pulled all the old hardware out of my case, it is now sitting on my workbench, sad and alone. Don’t worry little fella, you will have some new tenants soon.

At this time, it looks like I will be 3d printing until late next week with any luck, but I may start twitch streaming my prints live after that time. I will need to pick up a new camera, but I have a line on those already. Stay tuned.

Thank you everyone for your support, and thanks for stopping by.

Do the things!

The weeks seem to go by faster and faster in the summer. So many thing to do no matter where I turn. It does not matter if it is at work, at home, or with anything else I have going on. Podcast included. This is not a complaint, because there was a time when I would have liked to have had something to do, however I do wish I had more hours in the day to get it all done. No matter though, things move along, projects get finished, more get and added, and the cycle continues. It's all good and keeps me and my mind fresh.

Lately I find myself being called into my shop to get some projects started that I have been looking at for the last year. One of those projects is for my wife. It is one of those things that should have done a year ago, but the time has really helped me decide how I want to do design said item (yes I know I'm being vague mostly because it is a surprise and she reads this . - Hi honey!). I know I could have used 3d modeling software to help with this, but I find some things are more fun using the image I have in my head. That is generally how I do the Halloween props build. I will be sure to post progression shots as I start working on it.

I will be spending some time this Tuesday with the North Idaho Computer Users Group doing a 3d printing demonstration and discussion. This should be interesting, exciting, and a little frightening. This will be the first live thing I have done with 3d printing, though I do have more planned. The nice thing is that I was part of the group several years ago, but because of some life events it was one of those things I just had to stop going to. I have been in contact with the members from time to time, but it will be nice to attend a meeting again and see how things have been coming along. Come on by if you are in the area.

Thank you everyone for your support, and thanks for stopping by.

Episode 26: Never Print Me The Odds

Six months! Wow, it only feels like we started this a couple weeks ago. While we mark this episode with excitement, it is also marked with sadness. We are losing Andrew as a host. Some things came up in his personal life, and in order to deal with those he has had to make some sacrifices. No matter has happens we with him well. This does not mean the show is ending though! Joe will continue and episodes will be released on time as always.

Episode 19: You Printin' To Me?

Another week has come and gone and it is time to get Episode 19 released. We talk about new printers, games, and of course Star Wars. We even managed to go over the hour mark, and that was without knowing the laptop, at some point, chopped out about 10 minutes of raw audio, never to be heard from again. Thankfully it was nothing to important, and did not affect the out come of the episode.

Just think, next week will mark 5 months that we have been doing this, and it is all for you! We hope you enjoy and if you do take a moment to moment to follow us on SoundCloud,Twitter,YouTube, Instagram or Facebook. You can also provide a little out-of-pocket support my being a patron.
